Biographical Note
The summer after the final year of her stint as an IB Student, IB Grad suffered a mental collapse so debilitating that she could not even venture out of her cold, lonely room. (Why she did not seek professional help for this is beyond my understanding at the moment). Until, that is, she had a craving for popcorn one very late night and a vision appeared to her and urged her to write a self-indulgent memoir about her life in the programme.
To a friend, she wrote that in order to “feel closure about what happened“, (which the friend interpreted in turn as a very vague and cryptic way of referring to IB), she would have to add to the ever-growing collection of (semi)autobiographical books about troubled young people.
It was then that she perused through her depressing, often self-dramatizing journal entries in the hopes of finding episodes from which to sketch out the plot of her novel memoir, which she claims is entirely fictional and not at all inspired by the events of her own life and various illnesses.
That journey through the past having failed her, IB Grad decided to completely make up certain events and present the result as a memoir to would-be publishers. That goal having failed her, for fear of being sued, IB Grad endeavoured to present her work instead as a fictional memoir being written as you read this supposedly biographical note.
